Sex Trafficking Case Federal Agent Testifies About Weapons, Security, and Raid Strategy at Diddy’s Star Island Estate

In a pivotal moment during Week 2 of the federal trial against music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs, a special agent from Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) testified about the planning, execution, and findings of the March 2024 raid on Combs’ waterfront mansion on Star Island in Miami.

Gerald Gannon, is part of HSI’s National Security Group in Miami and specializes in human trafficking enforcement, including both sex and labor trafficking. He took the stand to describe how federal agents prepared for a high-risk search warrant at Combs’ residence, based on ongoing allegations of trafficking, coercion, and possible weapons violations.

According to the agent, the Miami-based team had credible intelligence that suggested Combs’ property might contain evidence of sexual exploitation and illegal weapons possession, along with concerns over the presence of armed security capable of obstructing the search.

In response, HSI’s tactical planning included deploying agents by land and sea. Multiple boats were strategically stationed around the Star Island property’s private pier to secure the perimeter and prevent unauthorized departures during the raid.

Agents also monitored the waterfront dock in advance, tracking movement and activity leading up to the operation. The search uncovered a hidden underground storage area that led directly to the estate’s pool.

Investigators found this feature notable due to its secluded design and its potential use for concealing evidence or restricting access during sensitive activities.

The most startling evidence presented involved the discovery of two semi-automatic AR-15-style rifle parts, fully loaded magazines, and adult paraphernalia inside a closet. According to the agent’s testimony, the serial numbers had been scratched off both rifles and their accessories, an act considered a federal firearms offense under U.S. law.

Also found in the same storage area were 15 pairs of seven-inch high heels, which prosecutors argue may connect to ongoing claims of orchestrated sexual encounters and alleged coercion of individuals, potentially including sex workers or trafficked victims.

The agent emphasized that the weapons were not stored in a secure gun safe or locked area, but instead kept within a bedroom closet, alongside items that pointed to personal use rather than collectible or professional firearm storage. This finding is expected to support potential charges related to illegal weapons possession and tampering with identifying firearm information.

Cross-Examination Focuses on Intent and Sobriety

During cross-examination, Combs’ lead defense attorney, Xavier Donaldson, pressed the agent on the interpretation of the evidence, particularly whether the weapons could legally belong to another resident or staff member, and whether the serial number damage could be definitively linked to Combs himself.

Donaldson also probed whether the presence of adult items and shoes necessarily implied criminal intent, suggesting the items could reflect consensual adult activity unrelated to the trafficking allegations.

Re-Direct

In response, the prosecution emphasized their intent to prove that Combs had direct knowledge of the weapons, the tampering involved, and the activities taking place inside the estate.

Prosecutors also argued that establishing Combs’ sobriety and awareness at the time of the raid is critical for demonstrating criminal intent.

The testimony from the HSI agent forms part of a broader effort to demonstrate that Combs was not only in control of the property, but also orchestrated and enabled activities that are at the center of serious federal charges, including sex trafficking, racketeering, and firearms violations.
